Leading luxury British car brand, Bentley Motors, has today announced that all their global retailers will be carbon neutral by 2025 – a significant milestone for the company on its extraordinary journey to become the leader in sustainable luxury mobility.
Announced at a special presentation livestreamed from Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, the luxury car manufacturer outlined the business’s wider Beyond100 strategy, which is set to make Bentley the first luxury automotive brand to be end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030, with Crewe operations climate positive thereafter.
How will they achieve this?
Well, Bentley has outlined a plan for each retailer around the globe detailing small steps they can take to reduce their carbon footprint, with suggestions of alternative means including using rainwater for site facilities, switching to a green energy tariff, having PHEV fleet and marketing cars, and not using single use plastics. Several changes like these are currently being implemented across H.R. Owen Bentley’s retailers at Jack Barclay, Bentley Berkshire, Bentley Hatfield and Bentley Surrey.

Bentley has confirmed it will offer its first-ever Battery-Powered Electric Vehicle (BEV) from 2025 and only offer PHEV or BEV vehicles by 2026, switching the entire range to full electrification by 2030. As the leader in sustainable luxury mobility, Bentley’s Crewe headquarters is already the world’s first carbon neutral luxury car manufacturing plant.

Bentley’s first-ever BEV will be developed and built in the UK with the company committing to investing £2.5 billion in sustainability over the next ten years to transform Bentley’s entire product portfolio, and Crewe into a world-leading ‘Dream Factory’, next generation, digital, flexible and high-value manufacturing facility.

The announcement of a Five-in-Five plan, which commits Bentley to launching a new electric model each year, from 2025, redefining Bentley’s credentials as the benchmark manufacturer in sustainable luxury mobility.

An extension of on-site energy production at Crewe, aiming to increase the number of solar panels from 30,000 to 40,000 in the next two years. Moreover, Bentley is investigating using sustainable biofuel in fleet cars, including Bentley’s iconic Heritage Collection.

The installation of an on-site, 34,000-litre biofuel tank and pump had dramatically cut CO2 output from local logistics vehicles by 233 tonnes in just 12 months. As a result of the initiative, Bentley now run its in-house logistics fleet on 100 per cent green energy.

The recertification of its headquarters and operations in Crewe to PAS 2060 Carbon Neutral specification, by the internationally recognised Carbon Trust. This reflected the measures taken by Bentley to reduce carbon emitted through its operations.

Enhancing the environmental sustainability of its products and materials, as it becomes the first automotive member of the Leather Working Group – a group that audits leather manufacturers against clear best practice benchmarks and stringent audit standards which are independently monitored.
