Following its seismic debut at Monterey Car Week, the new Lamborghini Temerario is sure to continue sending shockwaves through the automotive world as it follows in the wheeltracks of its Huracan and Gallardo predecessors.
Described by Lamborghini as an authentic ‘Fuoriclasse’, an undisputed champion, the Temerario is truly in a league of its own, offering superlative performance and comfort for a peerless driving experience. The car’s twin-turbo V8 powertrain benefits from Sant’Agata Bolognese’s HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle) treatment, joining the new Revuelto and Urus SE in taking full advantage of the latest hybrid technology.
With the flat-plane, 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 developing 800hp alone, while revving to a staggering 10,000rpm, it’s clear that the Temerario is a Lamborghini in the truest sense of the name. And, when supplemented by the three new electric motors and 3.8kWh battery pack, a total output of 920hp and 730Nm of torque is achieved, enabling blistering 0-62mph acceleration in just 2.7 seconds on the way to a top speed in excess of 210mph.
In addition to extra power, this hybrid design ensures that the Temerario is a car without compromise. Torque-filling technology provides the power delivery characteristics of a naturally-aspirated engine, two 15.5kg electric motors on the front axle (with the other found between the engine and gearbox) offer torque vectoring all-wheel drive capability, and ‘Città’ mode ensures the car can run on pure electricity alone. Even with the engine activated, CO2 emissions are reduced by 50% versus the outgoing Huracan.
The implementation of such cutting-edge technology is supported by the use of motorsport-grade materials and state-of-the-art processes such as 3D printing. The constant pursuit of simplicity and performance is illustrated in the fact that the Temerario contains 80% less welding than the Huracan yet boasts a 20% increase in the torsional stiffness of its all-aluminium frame.
This approach continues inside, where occupants will find the most advanced multimedia experience in Lamborghini history. Highlighted by the introduction of a three-display interface with renewed graphic design, it features 13 unique driving experiences available through the five drive modes. There’s also a Memories Recorder – facilitated by the debut of the new three-camera LAVU (Lamborghini Vision Unit) – which records in front, within, and behind the car to capture those unique Lamborghini experiences.
