New race-inspired models in both V8 and V12 versions
Ever since Aston Martin announced the new, performance focused AMR within its model portfolio we’ve been eagerly awaiting the first production cars. Now they’re here; classics of the future, ready to enjoy here and now.
The new Vantage AMR gives the most compact model in the Aston Martin range a touch of race-inspired charisma. It’s available with the 4.7 litre V8 or 6.0-litre V12, developing 430bhp and 595bhp respectively. You can choose between manual and sequential paddleshift transmissions; both are available as Coupé and Roadster. Choose the Coupé and you’ll enjoy an interior of leather and Alcantara, while the Roadster features leather throughout.
But it’s the design of the Vantage AMR models that will really catch the eye. A Vantage GTE – race number #95 – won last year’s World Endurance Championship and this inspired the Halo Edition. Exterior finish is Stirling Green with a vivid flash of Lime Green, a colour that repeats within the cockpit on centre console, seats and doors. Halo Edition models also feature an under-bonnet badge signed by Marek Reichmann and David King, while a Union Jack enamelled badge is a no-cost option.
Alternatively, there are four other colour combinations that run the gamut from discreet to extrovert; Stratus White with Orange; Ultramarine Black with Blue; Zaffre Blue with Red and Scintilla Silver with Grey. Each colour scheme has its own complementary interior design and contrast colour.
Personalisation is at the core of AMR’s appeal and the options are many. You can pick out your chosen contrast colour in the Brembo brake callipers, specify a dramatic aero body kit, choose from a wide range of wheel designs and even opt for lightweight carbon fibre seats.
An optional titanium exhaust system saves 14kg and sharpens engine response, but many will choose it for the sound it makes. And why not? It’s simply glorious, a race-car crackle that makes the perfect complement to the Vantage AMR’s race-inspired design.
