Yet what makes the Bentayga more than “another SUV”, what in fact makes it breathtaking is the phenomenal all terrain ability, which is so stunningly designed, and perfectly controlled that will make many competitors’ promises seem hollow by comparison.
Most SUVs are an evolution resulting from the marriage of the hot hatch and an estate car, promising 4×4 capability and improved vision resulting from the increased drive height. Many are based on the chassis of their hot hatch parents, which limits their true 4×4 ability. The Bentayga is different.

The development programme for the Bentayga has been the most exhaustive in the Bentley brand’s history, ranging across five continents. From the dirt and gravel of South Africa and the dunes of Dubai, to the muddy fields of Cheshire, and from -30°C in the frozen North Cape to searing 50°C desert heat, the Bentayga’s ability to perform on any surface and even in the most extreme conditions has been proven.”
While the majority of users will never need to contemplate driving in such extreme conditions, the Bentayga’s electronic hill descent system could be extremely useful, particularly during a British winter. Another key benefit is the bespoke Bentley dynamic ride system, which is the world’s first electric active roll control technology.  Both adaptive and reactive, it provides variable torsional resistance, allowing the Bentayga to be both instantly capable and comfortable for all occupants, at all times. In addition to the advanced dynamic ride system there is a multi-mode traction control on the Bentayga. The air suspension system offers four ride heights, which features the benefit of a switch in the boot to lower the rear suspension and ease loading or trailer hitching.

Bentley certainly did not cut corners when it came to personalisation and bespoke luxury either. The Bentayga redefines the very concept of personal choice, with their wide range of options available including 15 shades of leather, 15 carpets, 7 wood veneers, wheel options ranging from 20 to 22 inches, and there are 17 standard colour choices. For the more sagacious, Bentley have their famous Mulliner bespoke offering a catalogue with 90 additional choices and virtually limitless customization options.
Complimenting their personalisation offerings are their six lifestyle options, For example, those with an interest in watersports may wish to specify the load-assist tray and wet gear stowage options. Other options include a switch in the tailgate, which electronically deploys a tow in 22 seconds, capable of a 3,500kg towing capacity.  The Mulliner options include a Linley diamond-quilted picnic hamper and a refrigerated storage for cold drinks, as well as the obligatory champagne.


When Bentley set out to create the most luxurious and powerful SUV in the world, many had doubts, yet the Bentayga has proved that this Great British car manufacturer has achieved their objective in spades. The Bentayga is astonishing. Its phenomenal power and all terrain ability, combined with pure Bentley luxury, style and comfort is going to be a game changer.
