Like other 10-year-old boys, Felix Brown has a fervent passion for football, and when it comes to Reading FC, the Royals may have no better fan.
But unlike his peers, there’s something very different about Felix, something that makes each and every day a measured battle against life itself:
Felix suffers from Leukaemia
In spite of his illness, Felix finds a way to stay positive, approaching each and every day with a smile, even going so far as to catalogue his battle with cancer on Facebook.
So when Felix’s favourite player—striker Yann Kermorgant—heard of the young man’s battle with cancer, he asked his club and H.R. Owen to help create a one in a lifetime experience for the die-hard Royals fan.
That’s when Reading FC invited Felix and his family to watch their match against Cardiff City as special guests of the club. The family of five were chauffeured to the stadium by H.R Owen in a Bentley and Aston Martin. Upon their arrival, they were treated to a fully catered lunch and pre-kickoff chat with Yann.
After lunch, the family—minus Felix—was led to their seats, the very best available in the entire stadium.
But where was Felix?—he was busy making his way down the tunnel and onto the pitch with the players, where he served as the official Reading FC matchday mascot.
HR Owen is immensely proud to have taken part in Felix’s special day. It was an absolute pleasure to bring a smile to the face of a family blindsided by a disease no one—least of all a child of Felix’s age—should have to endure.
Heartfelt thanks goes out to Reading FC and striker Yann Kermorgant, for not only orchestrating the lion’s share of Felix’s special day, but for giving H.R. Owen the opportunity to help.
